About David · Principal of LoanTorq
Your whole financial picture, read properly.
A race driver knows it. A CFO knows it. And after 25+ years arranging finance, so does David: a 30-year loan isn’t one decision. It’s a series of corners and straights, and the skill is knowing which one you’re in.

The background
He learned lending from the chair most brokers never sit in.
David is a Chartered Accountant, a former group CFO and a finance broker of 25+ years. He’s spent his working life reading financial positions from both sides of the table, and helping people apply the right amount of power at the right moment, whether the household budget is stretched at today’s repayments, or your income is real but never fits neatly into a bank’s form.
David has spent most of his working life as the person who had to convince the banks, and the person the banks had to convince.
For around 25 years he worked inside family offices and as group CFO of a company with more than $50 million in turnover and 90 staff. He built the budgets, structured the entities and sat across the table from lenders to negotiate the facilities that kept it all moving. Along the way he’s owned and run businesses of his own, so he knows first-hand what it looks like when real income doesn’t fit neatly into a bank’s form.
That combination is rare, and it changes how a file gets put together. Most brokers learn lending from the broker’s side of the desk. David learned it from the CFO’s chair: how a credit team actually reads a file, what a lender is really asking when it asks, and how the same financial position can be presented well, or presented poorly. Two lenders can read the same file and reach genuinely different answers about what it will support. That’s not because the file changed, but because each lender runs its assessment its own way. It’s also why a knock-back from one lender is one lender’s assessment, not the last word on your situation.
That experience is no promise about any particular outcome. It’s what shapes the questions David asks, and the way he explains the answers.

The idea behind the name
Every loan has seasons. The skill is knowing when to apply the torque.
Watch a race driver take a corner. They never hold the accelerator flat the whole way around. That’s how you end up in the wall. They brake, pick their line, let the car settle, and then, at exactly the right moment, apply the torque on the way out.
A 30-year home loan works the same way. It has corners and it has straights.
There are seasons when the right move is relief: easing the repayment pressure so a household can breathe while rates are high, income is stretched, or the kids are small. That’s not defeat. It’s braking for the corner.
And there are seasons when the right move is acceleration: holding your repayments up when you don’t have to, putting equity to work, getting the loan moving down faster while conditions are with you. That’s power applied on the straight.
Neither move is right all the time. You can’t have full torque one hundred per cent of the time. The skill is reading which season you’re actually in, and applying the right move for it. Most people are never shown this. They’re handed a rate, a term and a repayment, and left to hold the wheel for thirty years.
That’s the thinking LoanTorq is built on: read the whole picture, understand the season, engineer the move that fits it.
One important thing before we go further: everything on this page is general information: a way of thinking, not a recommendation. Every situation is different, and the corner you’re in is yours. That’s exactly why the first step with David is a conversation, not an application.
Why “LoanTorq”
A new name. Not a new business.
For decades, David’s practice traded as Dynamic Financial Systems. The company behind that name is still here (same legal entity, same licensing, same principal). What changed is the name on the door, because the old one described its era, not the work.
Torque is force applied deliberately: the right amount, at the right moment, in the right direction. It’s how an engine turns fuel into motion instead of noise. And it’s the most honest description David has found for what he actually does with lending: not chasing whichever number is on a billboard this week, but reading your capacity, your structure and your season, and applying the move that creates momentum.
Finance, engineered.
What to expect
Hard questions, plain answers, and the time it takes to get it right.
A first conversation with David doesn’t feel like a sales call, because it isn’t one. It’s closer to sitting down with a very good CFO who happens to be on your side of the table. Here’s what that looks like in practice:
He asks the questions others skip.
“Had you thought of…” is where a lot of the value starts: how your offset is set up, how your loan is structured, what your position could look like in three years, not just this month. Some of the most useful parts of the conversation are about things you didn’t come in to ask.
He takes the time.
No take-a-ticket processing, no handballing you between departments. The person who reads your situation is the person you talk to.
He explains it until it clicks.
The standard David holds himself to is simple: explain how something actually works, clearly enough that you could turn around and explain it to someone else. There’s no jargon used as a shield. If it matters to your decision, he’ll make sure you understand it.
“If the honest answer is ‘not yet’, you’ll hear that too, along with what would need to change first. A straight answer either way is the deal.”
David · Principal BrokerWho you’ll deal with
Small and senior, with serious machinery behind it.
LoanTorq is deliberately small and senior: two people you’ll actually know, not a call centre.
David
The principal, and the person on every strategy conversation. Your situation isn’t summarised for him by someone else. He reads it himself.
Dawn
Processing manager. Keeps everything moving behind the scenes: lodgements, lender follow-ups, documents and requirements. When there’s paperwork to organise, you deal with Dawn directly.
Loan Market Group
One of Australia’s established broking networks, behind both David and Dawn. Through it, David holds accreditations with more than 35 lenders across residential, commercial and asset finance, plus the group’s processing systems, ongoing training and compliance oversight: the reach and rigour of a large practice.
The fine print, in plain English
Regulated, licensed and accountable. Here’s what that actually means for you.
Mortgage broking in Australia is heavily regulated, and that’s a good thing. Think of it as the roll cage: safety engineered in whether or not you ever need it. Here’s the protection built around you when you work with David, in plain English:
A legal duty to act in your best interests. When David provides credit assistance, he’s bound by the Best Interests Duty: a legal obligation on mortgage brokers to act in your best interests, with the reasons for every recommendation documented on your file. A bank selling you its own product isn’t under that same duty.
A licensed pathway you can verify. LoanTorq is a trading name of Dynamic Financial Systems Pty Ltd, Credit Representative No. 400791 of BLSSA Pty Ltd, Australian Credit Licence 391237, as part of the Loan Market Group. You can check this yourself on ASIC’s professional registers, and we’d encourage you to.
Industry membership and standards. David is a member of the MFAA (Mortgage & Finance Association of Australia) and bound by its code of practice.
How David gets paid. There’s no fee to you for David’s broking service. When a loan settles, the lender pays a commission. David will explain exactly how that works, in plain English, before anything proceeds. There’s no fee for the check, the call or the work in between.
If something’s not right, say so. Tell David first. He wants to know. If you’re not satisfied, you can escalate through the licensee’s complaints process, and beyond that to AFCA, the independent Australian Financial Complaints Authority.
